Preparation
- Peel and boil the potatoes until tender. Mash with butter, milk, and salt until creamy and fluffy.
- In a skillet, brown the ground meat with chopped onion until cooked through.
- Add frozen peas, carrots, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and tomato paste to the meat mixture. Stir well and let it simmer for a few minutes.
Assembly and Baking
- Transfer the meat mixture to a casserole dish and spread the mashed potatoes evenly on top.
- Use a fork to create peaks in the mashed potatoes.
- Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) until the top is golden and the filling is bubbly, about 20-25 minutes.
Notes
Shepherd's Pie can be made ahead of time and frozen. Just ensure to let it come to room temperature before baking for even cooking.
