Ingredients
  

Bread and Spread
  • 4 rolls hearty sub rolls (hoagie, grinder, or ciabatta)
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise or vegan mayo This acts as the dressing
Meats
  • 4 slices salami
  • 4 slices ham
  • 4 slices pepperoni
  • 4 slices turkey or roast beef Optional based on preference
Cheese
  • 1 cup provolone cheese, shredded Can substitute with mozzarella or Italian blend
Vegetables
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 medium tomato, sliced Add after baking to prevent sogginess
  • 1/2 medium red onion, sliced
  • 1/2 cup pepperoncini, sliced Add according to taste

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Cut the rolls open, keeping one side attached.
  3. Spread a generous amount of mayonnaise inside each roll.
  4. Layer the meats inside the rolls.
  5. Add shredded cheese on top of the meats.
  6. Top with vegetables, adjusting to your preference.
  7. Press the sandwiches closed and wrap each sandwich in foil.
Baking
  1. Bake the wrapped sandwiches in the oven for about 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is melty and the bread is slightly crusty.
  2. Unwrap and serve warm.

Notes

Brush the outside of the bread with olive oil for a golden crust. You can prep these sandwiches ahead of time and bake just before serving. Customize fillings to suit your tastes.
