Ingredients
  

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • ½ cup light brown sugar packed
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs room temperature
  • cups semisweet chocolate chips

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking soda.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.
  4. Mix in the eggs and vanilla extract until just combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spatula.
  7. Scoop 2-tablespoon portions of dough onto the baking sheet, 2-3 inches apart.
  8. Bake for 9-11 minutes until edges are golden but centers are soft.
  9. Remove from the oven and immediately use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut the hot cookies.
  10. Allow to cool on the sheet for 5-7 minutes before moving to a wire rack.
