Method

Preparation
  1. Start by cooking sushi rice according to instructions and let it cool slightly.
  2. Lay a sheet of nori, shiny side down, onto your sushi rolling mat.
  3. Wet your fingers with water to prevent sticking, then take a handful of sushi rice and spread it evenly over the nori, leaving a border at the top.
  4. Place your chosen fillings (sushi-grade fish or alternatives) across the center of the rice.
  5. Roll the mat away from you, tucking the edge of the nori over the fillings and pulling it tightly as you roll.
  6. Continue rolling until you reach the border, dampen it with water to seal the roll.
  7. Repeat with remaining ingredients.
Serving
  1. Slice the sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces with a sharp, wet knife.
  2. Serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger on the side.

Notes

Experiment with different fillings and toppings according to your preference. For non-fish options, consider veggies or cooked meats.
