Ingredients
  

  • 220 g all-purpose flour
  • 300 g granulated sugar
  • 65 g unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 240 ml whole milk
  • 120 ml vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 240 ml boiling water

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C and grease/flour two 23-cm round cake pans.
  2. Whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla; mix until smooth.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is uniform.
  5. Divide the thin batter between the pans.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool in pans for 10 minutes, then move to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. Frost and decorate as desired.
