  • 4 pieces apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp) Any type of apple works
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey Optional; can use date syrup as well
  • 2 tablespoons water or apple juice For cooking

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Dice the apples, leaving the skins on for more fiber.
  2. Toss the diced apples in a pan with water or apple juice.
  3. Add ground cinnamon and maple syrup or honey.
  4. Cook on medium heat for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until apples are softened.

Notes

These cinnamon apples can be served over oatmeal, layered with yogurt, added to pancakes or eaten straight. They freeze well for meal prep.
