Ingredients
  

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Do not use margarine.
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar Use packed brown sugar for chewiness.
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs Room temperature is best.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Can double if desired.
  • 2.25 cups all-purpose flour Do not use bread flour.
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Enhances flavor.
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips Mix big and mini chips if desired.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with brown and granulated sugar until fluffy.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the mixture and mix until combined.
  4. Gradually add the flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips with a spoon or your hands.
  6. Scoop dough onto a baking sheet, ensuring to leave space between each cookie.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes, watching closely to avoid overbaking.
  2. Remove from the oven when edges are set and the center is slightly gooey.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For best results, do not overmix the dough and use parchment paper to prevent sticking. Chill the dough for 10 minutes for improved flavor. Cookies can be frozen before baking.
