  • 2 cups broccoli florets, chopped No rules on chopping size
  • 2 cups cauliflower florets
  • 1/2 cup red onion, chopped Optional, skip if disliked
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese Add more if desired
  • 6 slices crispy bacon, crumbled Real bacon is recommended
  • 1 handful sunflower seeds For crunch
Dressing
  • 1 cup real mayo Avoid low-quality mayo
  • 2 tablespoons sugar Do not omit
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar For tang

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a large bowl, toss the broccoli and cauliflower together.
  2. Add the chopped onion, cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, and sunflower seeds on top.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, sugar, and apple cider vinegar.
  4. Pour the dressing over the salad and mix until evenly coated.
  5. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow flavors to meld.

Notes

For variations, add cherry tomatoes, swap cheese for feta, use Greek yogurt for creaminess, or replace sunflower seeds with almonds. This salad keeps well in the fridge for 3-4 days in a sealed container.
